The King’s Academy will hold its sixth State of the School, April 30. This meeting does not happen annually, but as an update when pivotal changes take place in the life of the school, such as policy changes or large purchases. This year, special guest, Jeff Keaton, will speak on Biblical worldview being applied in a Christian school setting. Keaton is the founder and chairman of RenewaNation, author, pastor, church-planter and national speaker. RenewaNation’s mission is to “Inspire and equip the family, church and school to give millions of children a biblical worldview.”
TKA is putting a high emphasis on event attendance by cancelling all school events, limiting home assignments and holding raffles and giveaways. This year, the meeting will be held at First Baptist Woodstock in order to accommodate the large crowd that is invited to attend. In addition to a location change, the State of the School will only be in one session unlike other years where different sessions were split over multiple days. Giveaways such as significant tuition discounts will be available in a raffle for those that attend in hopes to draw in more attendees. This will be an adults-only event, and students/kids will not be allowed.
“We have cancelled all activities on Thursday (April 30) including all sporting events and all practices,” Head of School Mrs. Krisit Brannen said. “We’re asking coaches to come. Anybody that touches the lives of the students in our school, we want to come.”
Due to the presence of Jeff Keaton, the meeting will be split into two sections. About half of the time will be spent discussing school updates while the other half will consist of a session directed by Jeff Keaton, revealing the importance of a Godly worldview in a Christian school.
“At the Biblical Worldview conference in New Orleans, one of the speakers said, ‘A Christian school without a Biblical worldview is like going to Dairy Queen and there not being any ice cream,’” Assistant Principal Mrs. Kim Pfaller said.
While these were not Keaton’s words, his session will have a heavy emphasis on this idea. Keaton’s speaking stuck out among the others in attendance, and Mrs. Pfaller mentioned his memorable section of the conference.
“He was one of those speakers where you didn’t want him to stop talking,” Mrs. Pfaller said.
Brannen noted the same thing from the conference and thought he would be the perfect fit for TKA’s own State of the School.
“The minute he finished, I jumped up from my chair, ran up to him and said, ‘How can I get you to come and speak?’” Mrs. Brannen said.
Excited about Keaton’s words and inspiration, Mrs. Brannen hopes this unique State of the School will bring excitement and encouragement to the staff and those that impact students. This meeting is designed to shape the minds of those that lead the students at The King’s Academy, equipping them with scripture-based knowledge and teaching.
“I don’t ever want to get complacent or stale,” Mrs. Brannen said.
