Updated policy permits non-water beverages

The King’s Academy has made their newest policy change allowing drinks other than water in the classrooms again. If the cup has a lid, then it will be allowed regardless of the contents of the cup.

We heard feedback from the high school students that being able to bring drinks was missed, and we always want to consider student thoughts and suggestions,” Principal Dr. Lynn Sanders said. “All drinks will be allowed at the high school provided the cup has a lid.”

The no-drinks besides water rule had been in place for safety and cleanliness reasons, as spills and stains on classroom carpets were common. With the new policy, TKA has put measures in place like requiring cups with lids to prevent these issues while giving students more flexibility.

“We are excited to be able to respond to student feedback in this way,” Dr. Sanders said. “While we can't always reverse policies or say "yes" to all suggestions, it is a blessing when it works. We hope high school students are excited as we are!”

Care is advised when bringing beverages into classrooms to prevent spills and maintain cleanliness.
