New board members join for the first time in TKA history

For the first time in school history, the school board will be announcing five new board members in late September. The current board members are excited about this new change, and can’t wait to see how these new board members plan on leading the school and continue building on the core values that are already well established.
“The same board will remain as we've had for 27 years,” founder and Head of School Kristi Brannen said. “We're just adding new members because the ones of us that have been doing it for 27 years are getting older. We want to make sure that there's a team of people behind us that know how we have run the school, what our vision is [and] what the direction is.”
Three years ago, the school board recognized the need to train up new members to continue the legacy of the school. Some of the board members attended a conference in Kansas City, sponsored by the Herzog Foundation, an organization that specializes in helping with the development of quality biblical education. As a result of attending this conference, the discussion for selecting new board members began. Over the last three years, they have carefully and prayerfully selected candidates who are godly, have had students in the school, have been highly involved in the school and will maintain a commitment to the core values of the school. The planned integration will take two to three years to be fully established.
“There’s a real commitment to not just making sure we stay true to our core values and our foundation, [but] at the same time being open to some new methodologies to accomplish the same things [while] not changing our core,” former Georgia congressman and current school board member Wes Cantrell said.
With all of these upcoming personnel changes, the administration and the school board will continue to collaborate and lead the school hand in hand. These new members will focus specifically on three areas including finance, advancement and governance, while upholding the foundational beliefs of the original school board.
“I think it's a little too soon to know what ideas or changes they might have, but we're looking forward to seeing what they might want to bring to the table,” Mrs. Brannen said.
According to Sandra Breaden, TKA”s Auxiliary Programs Director, the current board members are excited and looking forward to these new board members.
“This is a wonderful new chapter for our school and I couldn’t be more excited and hopeful for the future,” Mrs Breaden said.
